Metafer MetaCyte and Isis

Extended Focus Function

Metafer MetaCyte and Isis include a dedicated function to generate focus stack images. This is a simple and effective tool in the analysis of objects thicker than a single plane of focus, like interphase nuclei. Prior to image acquisition (Isis) or before starting a search (MetaCyte) the user can select the number of focal planes per image to be captured, and the distance between each plane. The set of focus planes is combined into a single image by generating a projection of only the sharp pixels (i.e., the pixels with the maximum contrast).

A series of images taken from different focal planes (left, center) is automatically combined to an extended focal image (right).
